The Researcher explains the role of King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz in participating in establishing The Cooperation Council of Gulf Countries, with small intervals, he visited Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Oman Sultanate, the objective behind those visits was Consultation with neighbor and friend countries about political, economic, and cultural relationships, and the necessity of development of those relations, and to discuss the conditions on the borders of Gulf Area, the most important cases were status of Palestine and Lebanon, the visit was successful on both local and international levels, all Gulf Countries agreed to establish The Cooperation Council of Gulf Countries, as a result of very important reasons, like the Iranian Revolution headed by Khomeini against Iranian Shah Mohammed Reda Bahlawi, The Iranian Revolution revealed its Expansionist ambitions in Bahrain, which threatens the unity and welfare of Arabian Gulf, in addition to The Soviet Union Invasion in Afghanistan in 1980/1400H which threaten the security of Gulf Area, in addition to the Iraqi Iranian War in 1980/1400H which threatened the security of Arabian Gulf Countries, all those reasons was the basis of establishment by the unity of the six countries (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – Kuwait – Bahrain – Qatar – United Arab Emirates – Oman Sultanate) in 1981/1401H, King Khalid's Efforts had the biggest role in the establishment of The council which aims in the first place to protect the Arabian Gulf Area, and to develop cooperation ways between the six countries. |
