Abstract
:
The study examines the geographic distribution of Public gardens in Greater Amman. It aims to define the geographic factors that shaped that distribution. Such distribution is mainly based on population density and the area of the 21 regions that make Greater Amman. By using ArcGIS and ArcView GIS Softwares, and the Statistical Package of Social Sciences ( SPSS) and, swveral cartographic and statistical techniques, it was possible to determine the pattern of garden's distribution. These techniques were Chi-Square, Person Correlation, Nearest neighbor, Lorenz curve, mean center, central, and Kernel trend surface. That gardens, distribution was clustered and the direction of their extension was towards the north-west, were the main findings of the study. The study also found that more gardens are located in the east part of Amman, but the total area of gardens in the western part is greater.
