The Saudi Association for Civil Engineering can be described as a scientific and professional sprout that had to be implanted in this blessed and fertile land that only yields prosperous fruit.
All the efforts and hard work of the loyal citizens of our beloved country ensued the decision of the Council of the University of King Abdul Aziz No. (29) in its second meeting for the academic year 1421/1422 AH held on 08/11/1421 AH corresponding to 7/11/2000 AD requiring the establishment of the Saudi Association for Civil Engineering as a professional scientific association concerned with the affairs of civil engineering. It was also decreed that as the first engineering association to be created under the auspices of the university, the association serve as a scientific forum where specialists accumulate their thoughts, knowledge, experiences and theories to advance civil engineering scientifically, practically and professionally. The founding committee, which was formed on 2/1 / 1422 elected the first board of directors during the events of the first meeting of the General Association dated 02/11/1423AH corresponding to 24/4/2000 AD under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Mitaeb Bin Abdul Aziz Abdullah Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs.
The Board of Directors at its second session, was elected during the General Association meeting during the third annual meeting, which was held during the period from 17 - 19/03/1426 at King Abdul Aziz University under the auspices of His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Majid Bid Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz "God bless his soul" Emir of Mecca then.
The founding committee and its boards of directors have sought at their first and second sessions to achieve the fundamental objectives mentioned in the second article by opening branches to achieve horizontal proliferation of the Association and open subdivisions to achieve a specialized vertical spread.
The Association performs the following activities:
- Encourage scientific research in theoretical and applied areas of interest to the Association and related areas of knowledge.
- Publication of scientific production in all its forms in order to serve the objectives of the association.
- Hold scientific sessions such as lectures, study groups, conferences and workshops.
- Encourage the use of the Arabic language in translation, authoring, publishing, education and scientific sessions in various disciplines of civil engineering.
- The issuance of a scientific journal and periodicals in various disciplines of civil engineering.
- Suggest ways to improve the quality of education of civil engineering in order to keep up with the scientific advancement in the field.
- Conduct scientific studies to improve and develop the practices of practical aspects of the profession.
- Encourage scientific creativity applications such as artificial intelligence and the use of computers.
- Exchange of information and experiences in the fields of civil engineering with similar associations.
- Organizing scientific expeditions to the members of the Association and organizing scientific competitions each in their respective field.
